Zinc PCA

Zinc PCA (Zinc Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid) is a water-soluble cosmetic active: the zinc salt of PCA, one of skin's own natural moisturising factors. It pairs the sebum-regulating action of zinc with the humectancy of PCA. A go-to for oily and combination skin, scalp and hair care and deodorant formulations, helping balance oil, support the look of a clearer complexion and condition the skin.

• Appearance: white to off-white, odourless powder
• Solubility: water-soluble (add to the water phase)
• Use level: 0.1–1% (up to 0.3% in emulsions; 0.5–1% in tonics, serums, shampoos and deodorants)
• Optimal pH: 4.0–6.0 — outside this range zinc can form insoluble complexes and precipitate
• Applications: oil-control serums and toners, oil-control moisturisers, scalp and anti-dandruff products, natural deodorants

How to use: Disperse into the water phase and stir until fully dissolved. Hold finished pH at 4–6 for best clarity and stability; avoid prolonged high-temperature heating. For external use only — patch test before use.
