Sorbitol Liquid 70% - Food Grade

This product is Certified Food Grade and packed under NP3 Food Grade conditions.

In food it functions as a sweetener and humectant: it attracts and holds moisture, which maintains freshness and prolongs shelf life, and its hygroscopic character gives a smooth texture and limits sugar crystallisation in products such as candies and syrups.

Sorbitol Liquid is also used in many industries from feed to personal care to glues.

Sorbitol (INCI: Sorbitol, Aqua) is a polyhydric alcohol (polyol) derived from a dextrose sugar solution from wheat (gluten-free), consisting of the alcohols D-glucitol and D-mannitol. Supplied as a 70% solution in water. Formulation properties: humectant (limits moisture loss); stabilises gels and gives good clarity; skin softening and conditioning; can support the thickening effect of viscosity enhancers.

Common uses include:

• Soap-making - to make transparent soaps

• Dry skin - humectant; diluted 1:1 with water and applied to the skin

• Extend life of cut flowers - Add 2 teaspoons of Sorbitol to the water

• Personal care cleansers - moisturizing agent for hand wash, shower gel

• Skincare - Moisturizer for creams, lotions and balms

• Hair care - Conditioning agent, moisturizer, humectant

• Spill removal - Diluted 1:1 with water softens dry spills

• Stain removal - Soak dry stains, leave 3-4 hours and wash as normal

• Glass cleaning - Diluted 1:1 with Meths cleans mirrors and windows

• Bath bombs - Moisturizer

• Bath salts - Moisturizer

• Dairy farming - emollient and skin conditioner in teat care preparations

• Lubricants - Personal and industrial uses
