Retinol - Encapsulated

Encapsulated Retinol is a stabilised form of vitamin A enclosed in a protective, microscopic coating (such as lipids or polymers) that shields it from light and air. The coating acts as a time-release system, releasing the retinol gradually into the skin rather than all at once.

Formulating notes: Release profile:

the gradual release reduces the irritation potential associated with unencapsulated retinol, which makes it a better fit for products aimed at sensitive skin types.

Stability: encapsulation protects the retinol molecule from oxidation and breakdown, so activity is retained longer in the finished product.
