Copper Sulphate Bluestone 96% Technical Grade

Copper Sulphate, also known as Bluestone or Blue Vitriol, is a copper(II) salt useful for a wide range of applications.  This is a Technical Grade of approximately 96% purity.  Some of its many uses include;

• Water tanks - used to control the growth of algae

• Crystal formation for school projects etc

• Horticulture - when mixed with lime it forms Bordeaux Mixture, a traditional preparation used on grapes, melons and berries

• In electroplating processes

• A source of soluble copper

• Etching - Copper sulphate is also used to etch zinc plates for intaglio printmaking

• Dyes - Copper sulfate can also be used as a mordant in vegetable dyeing.

• Footbaths - dissolved in water in a "foot bath" for sheep to pass through

• Applied to plants as part of a horticultural spray programme.

• Swimming pools - added to control algae and help clear the water. Put 2.5grams (half a teaspoon) every 10 to 15 days into the skimmer box and let the pool pump run for at least 12 hours.
