Sorbitan Monostearate

Sorbitan Monostearate, also known as sorbitan stearate or Span 60, is a water in oil emulsifier and also solubilising agent.

It is non-ionic, so compatible with many ingredients and has an HLB of approx. 4.7

Sorbitan monostearate is useful for production of oil in water emulsions in combination with high HLB emulsifiers like Ceteareth 20 or Emulsifier K. It is also used for inverse emulsions (water in oil), and may be used for creams, lotions, conditioners and hair styling products as well as sunscreens.
