Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate (Eumulgin SG)
Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate (Eumulgin SG)
Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, also known as Eumulgin® SG, is an anionic emulsifier and stabiliser for oil in water emulsions.
From sprays and lotions to creams and gels, modern skincare products need stable and versatile emulsifiers that allow sensory adjustment and consistent quality. Eumulgin® SG is easy to disperse and compatible with commonly used raw materials and electrolytes including water-soluble UV filters. The exceptionally strong O/W emulsifier is highly efficient in low concentrations. It is derived from 100% natural, renewable feedstocks and approved by COSMOS.
Eumulgin SG contains no no PEGs or ethoxylated ingredients. It shows outstanding compatibility with organic and inorganic electrolytes, like Aloe Vera and sodium chloride (max 2%), actives and UV filters. It works well with both water soluble ingredients i.e. hydrolyzed proteins, and oil soluble ingredients like vegetable oils, emollient esters, waxes, and silicones. It can be combined with other emulsifiers and polymers such as Carbomers, Sepimax ZEN, Pemulens, and Sepinov EMT 10.
Eumulgin SG offers good viscosity at low concentrations (0.25%), to maximum concentration of 2.0%. The viscosity of the end product remains stable over time.
Eumulgin SG supports small droplet formation even with low shear mixers, which increases stability, and lamellar gels, which can stabilize actives while extending the release of oil soluble actives. It can also suspend pigments, exfoliants or powders. Lamellar gels have low skin irritation potential, which allows manufacture of lotions suitable for people with sensitive skin or allergies.
