In food it is commonly used as a leavening agent in baking and pastry recipes - cakes, crackers, waffles and similar - and is added to beverages for its carbonation and foaming abilities.  

Premium aluminium-free Sodium Bicarbonate (INCI: Sodium Bicarbonate), also known as Baking Soda or Bicarbonate of Soda. A mildly alkaline salt used as a leavening agent, pH adjuster, acid neutraliser and mild abrasive.
