Sodium benzoate is an economical and effective preservative for skincare, food, mouthwash & toothpaste. Sodium benzoate is designated as generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the United States Food and Drug Administration

It is effective against moulds, fungus & bacteria at low pH between 2.5 - 4.5

Sodium benzoate in products is colorless, odorless, readily soluble, and has good compatibility with many other ingredients.

Benzoic acid, its salts like sodium benzoate and its esters are found in many natural foods. Fruits and vegetables can be rich sources, particularly berries such as cranberry and bilberry. Other sources include seafood, such as prawns, and dairy products like milk, cheese, and yogurt.

Usage rates are recommended:
Rinse off products: 2.5%
Leave on products: 0.5%
