Silicone Elastomer Gel (Thick & Smooth) - Cyclopentasiloxane Base

INCI: Cyclopentasiloxane (and) Dimethicone Crosspolymer

A thick, smooth silicone elastomer gel: a crosslinked dimethicone elastomer swollen in volatile cyclopentasiloxane. In formulation it builds viscosity and a dry, silky, matte-to-velvet skin feel without oiliness, and it spreads without balling or pilling. As the volatile base flashes off it leaves a light, powdery elastomer film.

Formulation notes

• Miscible and soluble in silicone fluids and volatile silicones; for oil-phase compatibility, trial small blends first.
• Anhydrous system, so it suits primers, balms, sticks, silicone serums and water-free textures.
• Reduces tack and greasiness in emollient-rich formulas and improves slip and spreadability.
• Blend gently; shear-thinning, so very high shear lowers viscosity.

Common uses

• Face and makeup primers - smoothing, pore-blurring, matte finish
• Anhydrous serums and gel bases - silicone-phase texture and slip
• Sun care and skin protectant formulations - non-greasy feel modifier
• Hair serums and styling products - smoothing, shine and slip

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight in a tightly sealed container.
