Potassium Sorbate

Potassium sorbate is a versatile preservative, particularly effective against yeast and moulds, but not so effective against bacteria.

To be effective, Potassium sorbate must be acidified to release Sorbic acid, which is the active form of Potassium sorbate.  The pH needs to be reduced to at or below 5.5 for efficacy, and the lower the better for optimal effect.

Potassium sorbate can be used in skincare, haircare and footcare products. Usage rate is between 0.1 - 0.5% w/w
