Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate - PAD

INCI: Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate. Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate (PAD) is a water-soluble, stable salt derived from azelaic acid and glycine. Unlike azelaic acid itself it is fully water soluble — add it to the water phase — which makes it far easier to formulate into serums, toners, lotions and creams, and it is more moisturising and better tolerated on sensitive skin. In formulation it acts as a tyrosinase inhibitor and, via its glycine component, as a humectant.

Commonly used in formulations targeting the evenness of skin tone, the appearance of dark marks and oily or congested-looking skin:

Sebum: helps control sebum (oil) production, for products targeting the look of oily skin and shine.

Skin tone: inhibits tyrosinase, used in formulations targeting the appearance of dark marks and the evenness of skin tone.

Skin comfort: used in formulations for irritated or sensitive-looking skin and the appearance of redness.

Hydration: the glycine component contributes humectancy, so the material supports skin hydration as well as tone.
