Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate

Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate is a gentle, plant-derived emulsifier and solubiliser made from polyglycerol and lauric acid — typically sourced from coconut or palm kernel oil. It's a versatile non-ionic emulsifier with a high HLB value (approximately 15–16), making it particularly effective for creating oil-in-water emulsions and for solubilising light oils and essential oils into water-based formulations without leaving a heavy or greasy feel. It's well suited to lightweight serums, micellar waters, toners, and gentle cleansers, and is especially popular in natural and clean beauty formulations thanks to its excellent skin compatibility, mild nature, and biodegradability. Approved for use in certified natural and organic cosmetics (COSMOS/ECOCERT compliant), it's a smart alternative to conventional PEG-based emulsifiers for formulators looking to keep their ingredient lists clean without compromising performance. Typical use level is 1–5% depending on application.

Formulation tip: Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate works beautifully alongside other polyglyceryl emulsifiers — try pairing it with Polyglyceryl-3 Beeswax or Glyceryl Stearate for a more stable, richer emulsion, or combine it with a co-emulsifier like Cetearyl Alcohol for added body in lotions and creams. For solubilising essential oils into a room or body mist, use at 2–4x the weight of the oil phase for a clear, stable result. Add to the water phase at temperatures below 40°C to preserve performance.
