INCI: Methyl Salicylate. Methyl salicylate is an aromatic, naturally occurring compound produced by a number of plants including Birch, Wintergreen and Meadowsweet. It is used mostly in skincare, and particularly in heating liniments, muscle rubs and sports creams, where it contributes a warming sensory effect and a characteristic aromatic odour.
