Marine Plankton Extract — Lifting & Tightening

A marine active of French origin, rich in high molecular weight polysaccharides. In the ocean these polymers are what plankton produce to shield themselves and hold nutrients close in a demanding environment; on skin, the same polysaccharides form a light, cohesive film across the surface.

That film is what delivers the tightening effect — an immediate, temporary lift as it dries and contracts, smoothing the appearance of fine lines at the epidermal surface. It is a physical, surface-level effect rather than a biological one, which makes it well suited to instant-result formats: eye treatments, firming serums, masks and ‘flash lift’ products where the result should be felt straight away.

Pairs well with longer-acting actives — peptides, niacinamide, plant cell culture extracts — where the plankton delivers the immediate sensory result and the other actives do the slower work.
