Dipropylene Glycol
Dipropylene Glycol
Dipropylene Glycol is a versatile solvent that is odorless, colorless, and has a high boiling point and low toxicity. Not only does it act as a carrier, but it also functions as a diluent for fragrance oils.
Dipropylene Glycol (DPG) is virtually odorless with a slight ethereal-green solvent note. This compound can be mixed with most essential oils and is also water soluble. Additionally, it can act as a stabilizer in compounds when used at a concentration of around 30%.
However, it is not recommended for excessive use in cold-process soaps, as more than 5% can slow or inhibit tracing/saponification. Avoid using it in oily or wax-based products such as candles, wax melts, massage oils, and lipsticks due to solubility issues.
Dipropylene Glycol is used for the manufacture of chemicals, pulp, paper and paper products, skincare and haircare products, plastic products and textile, leather or fur processing.
