Dimethicone 1000 (Silicone Oil)

Dimethicone 1000 is a high-viscosity silicone fluid (1000 cSt) that brings a luxurious, cushioning feel to cosmetic formulations. A member of the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) family, it delivers exceptional slip, smoothness, and a rich skin feel that sits beautifully on the surface of the skin — making it a go-to ingredient for formulators who want that signature silicone glide without feeling greasy or occlusive. It forms a lightweight, breathable barrier that helps lock in moisture and protect the skin, while also improving the spreadability and payoff of any formula it's added to.

Dimethicone 1000 is particularly well suited to rich moisturisers, barrier creams, body butters, hair conditioners, and leave-in treatments where a longer-lasting, more cushioned feel is desired. It's also widely used in colour cosmetics — foundations, primers, and lip products — where smooth application and wear comfort matter. Chemically inert, non-comedogenic, and well tolerated by most skin types including sensitive skin, it blends readily with oils, esters, and other silicones.
