Dicetyl Dimonium Chloride - Conditioner & Anti-Static
Dicetyl Dimonium Chloride (DDC) is a cationic quaternary ammonium salt used as a conditioning active ingredient, mostly in hair care: conditioners, setting lotions, detangling sprays, hair masques and hair treatments. Being cationic it is substantive — it holds onto hair and skin. Its use in conditioners, treatments and cream rinses improves both wet and dry combing, plus it also reduces static electricity.
DDC also functions as a preservative, inhibiting the growth of microorganisms in a formulation. It can also be used as a surfactant (for cleansing and emulsifying) and a suspending agent.
It can also be used as a fabric softener and anti-static agent for laundry uses.
Recommended Usage Rates:
- Rinse off products like conditioners, setting lotions, treatments etc : 0.25 - 10%
- Leave on products like creams and leave-in detanglers: 0.25% - 5%
