Bakuchiol is a naturally extracted, plant derived ingredient from the Bakuchi Plant which commonly grows throughout the Indian subcontinent, and it possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.

It is a powerful antioxidant that can reduce skin discolouration in a similar manner to traditional Retinol, as well as having soothing effects on the skin. Bakuchiol reduces fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improving skin tone.

It may be used in all types of anti-ageing skincare products including creams. lotions, treatment masks, serums and milks.

Although Bakuchiol is commonly used to replace retinol due to its lack of phototoxic effects, it can act synergistically and can stabilise retinol.

Bakuchiol isolated from P. corylifolia has shown activity against numerous Gram-positive and Gram-negative oral pathogens. It was able to inhibit the growth of Streptococcus mutans.
