Kawakawa Infused Almond Oil - High Potency

INCI:  Prunus Amygdalis Dulcsis (Sweet Almond) oil (and) Macropiper Excelsum (Kawakawa) Extract.

Kawakawa Oil Infused Almond Oil is a high-potency, handcrafted infused oil produced by maceration and percolation of sustainably wild harvested Kawakawa leaves in Sweet Almond Oil.  It is a rich dark green oil with a characteristic mild herbal odour.

Kawakawa is New Zealand Aotearoa’s native Pepper tree, so called for the distinct sweet peppery taste of the leaves, seeds and fruit.  Kawakawa has a long standing cultural and historical significance, particularly within rongoā, (traditional Māori medicine), as Māori used Kawakawa leaves for a wide variety of medicinal purposes, including poultices, balms, and oil infusions of the leaves.

Kawakawa oil is rich in alkaloids, anti-oxidants, lignans as well as essential fatty acids, which can contribute to skin moisturisation, and help maintain the skin's natural moisture barrier.

The leaves contain many pharmacologically active compounds including elemicin, piperchabamide, myristicin and diayangambin, which can give rise to a numbing effect in the mouth, as well as contributing to its calming, anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, anti-oxidant and antimicrobial properties.

Applications

Kawakawa Oil is ideal for all types of healing, soothing, replenishing and moisturising products for skin and hair.  It can be formulated into balms, body butters, creams, lotions, sticks, soaps, oil blends and gels to help alleviate the symptoms of cracked, damaged, itchy and sore skin as well as painful joints and skin conditions like dermatitis, eczema, rosacea, acne and psoriasis.
